So what really gets in your way? Why don’t you have what you want? Why do you feel the way you do about life? Is this really all there is to it? This isn’t what you signed up for and you know it. Frustrating isn’t it?
Are you ready for the bad news? Your life looks the way it does because of the quality of your thinking. Most of what we consider to be thoughts, are not thoughts at all, but rather recordings, playing in the background.
Some 40% of what you do happens on autopilot. You did think about it at some point, then made a decision in response to an event and stopped thinking about it years ago. Now it is just the way it is and you are following a script.
If you have habits and recordings that support you all well and good; then you are following a script that lays out a narrative in which you are on the path to what you want.
My guess is the script you are following isn’t taking you where you want to go. You perceive life to be a particular way and that then becomes how it is for you.
It is not so much that you only see what you want to see, it is more the case that you can only see what you have been trained to see. You see the world through a series of filters.
We are continually bombarded with sensorial information resulting in some 2 billion bits of data coming at us every minute of every day. If we were consciously aware of all 2 billion bits, or even a large portion of it, we would experience sensory overload.
Our brain has evolved to delete, generalise and distort the information that comes in, through a set of filters. In other words, most of the information is left out. This filtering system is the reticular activating system. The brain uses labels to draw conclusions, and make assumptions, to short cut the process of making sense of the world around us.
The net result is we don’t get the whole picture, and yet we act as if our conclusions are the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. When in reality, at best it is a misperceived potentiality, not how things really are at all.
We literally decide how things are. The only problem is we don’t know that’s what we do. What if you could see differently? Change the filter if you like? Seeing beyond the filter takes not being invested in your point of view. So how do you do that?

I said earlier, it begins and ends with you. If you take the view that life is the way it is, because you continue to look for evidence that it is that way, then that is the only way it can be.
This is life at the effect of the filter. If you allow yourself to entertain the possibility of Living Consciously it can be another way AND anything becomes possible.
